MembershipHOT has been an active part of Houston’s obedience community since the 60's and we are very proud of our reputation and the part HOT plays in furthering dog obedience and responsible pet ownership. If after completing two obedience classes you are interested in getting more involved in obedience training, you can apply to become a member of HOT. The first step is probationary membership which gives you time to get to know us and learn what HOT has to offer. Being actively involved during this six-month period allow us the opportunity to get to know you and your dog, so new members are expected to assist two club classes, attend at least half of the club's general meetings, and work at least one club trial and event. After the probationary period has ended, HOT offers several levels of membership to those who wish to continue their affiliation with HOT and are willing to volunteer their time and energy to support the mission and goals of the Club. All members are expected to actively participate and assist with classes, trials, events and activities in order remain an "eligible" member and enjoy the privileges and benefits that membership in HOT has to offer.
H.O.T. has a lot to offer our members. First and foremost, H.O.T. Dog Club is devoted to the sport of Obedience. Each year, H.O.T. hosts Obedience and Rally Trials and stewards for other organizations at area obedience and rally events. We have tracking classes several times a year and hold TD, TDX and VST Tests if you are interested in pursuing a tracking title. Other Club sponsored activities include Agility Trials and AKC Canine Good Citizen® Tests, and Show 'n Go's in obedience, rally and agility. Members are kept informed of upcoming dog-related activities such as trials, matches, seminars, workshops and clinics in Houston and the Gulf Coast area so they may participate if they want. The club is very involved in ongoing education and sponsors seminars, workshops and clinics for our members and the public. We feel that H.O.T. has something for everyone, regardless of their interest. We hope you will have a long and productive relationship with our Club, and that you will earn many, many titles with your dog.
