Events and Activities

Club sponsored activities and events include American Kennel Club (AKC) licensed Obedience, Rally and Agility trials, and licensed Tracking Dog, Tracking Dog Excellent and Variable Surface Tracking tests.  HOT holds Obedience, Rally and Agility Show 'n Go's as well as AKC Canine Good Citizen® tests throughout the year.  Seminars, workshops and clinics in obedience, rally and tracking are offered to help prepare our club members and students to compete with their dogs.  HOT has also hosted NAFA Flyball Tournaments and was one of the first groups in Houston to have a Flyball team.

Rally Seminar Sunday, January 22, 2012  10:00 am- 4:00 pm
HOT Dog Club Building

Sandy Walroth,  AKC Rally Judge and member of the 2010 Rally Advisory Committee will explain the new rules starting April 1, 2012. Covered will be new scoring, all new exercises, and all other changes. This is a working seminar. You may bring one dog (or two, but can only work one at a time) to practice the new exercises. Courses will be set at the end of the day to practice using the new exercises.

Cost: (Includes light lunch and beverages.)
Working: $50 for non-members, $30 for members
Audit: $25 for non-members, $20 for members

 SHOW 'n GOs

Agility Show 'n Go Friday, January 6, 2012
6:00 - 8:30 pm
Registration begins at 6:00 pm

$5 for 90 seconds in the ring. Start with 24-26" followed by 20, 16, 12, 4 & 8. Walk-though for all heights at 5:50 pm.  First dog on the line at 6:00 pm.  Other brief walk-throughs before each jump height.

8 dogs max per height before moving to next height.

 After all dogs have run once, everyone will have another opportunity to run, again starting with 24-26".

 Great opportunity for training-in-the-ring. Food and toys okay, and we'll help you set out "targets". Bathrooms are located inside the building.
